SC dismisses plea for review on Kalabagh Dam construction

The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday (today) dismissed the plea of engineers forum regarding the construction of Kalabagh Dam.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Zamali heard the case in which the judge announced a reserved verdict on review appeal filed by engineers.

The plea stated that government is delaying Kalabagh Dam’s construction despite court’s order. The court disposed of the case saying that the construction is postponed due to a technical ground.

Earlier, Justice Gulzar remarked that the dam issue is being politicised with three provinces who are not favouring its construction.

Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali stated that the court will not interfere in policy matters undermining whether the dam is constructed or not.

  1. It's unfortunate on the part of Government to have not constructed the dam, despite H.C. Directions which is dire need of the country in order to overcome the shortage of water, must realise and start the work urgently before it becomes too late.
