PESHAWAR: The Supreme Court (SC) dissolved all Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Medical Teaching Institutions’ (MTI) Board of Governors (BOGs) because it found their performance to be unsatisfactory.

The two-member bench of the SC comprised Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar and Justice Mushir Alam.

The bench ordered, “on account of the unsatisfactory performance of the BoGs of the KP government MTIs hospitals, we are exercising jurisdiction to do justice by directing all the BoGs dissolved.”

The case was being heard on the plea submitted by the Young Doctors Association (YDA) which claimed that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government had made decisions which violated the MTI Act.

Furthermore, the bench ordered the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chief secretary to prepare a summary pertaining to the making of new BOGs.

The court also said that the existing BOGs would continue to function for another three weeks.
