ISLAMABAD – The newly formulated caretaker cabinet met at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on Wednesday to comprehensively discuss all possible results, odds, outcomes and strategies for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia.
Caretaker Prime Minister Justice (R) Nasirul-Mulk directed the Finance Division to formulate a comprehensive strategy containing immediate measures as well as a blueprint of how each of the eight FIFA World Cup groups could pan out.
Finance Minister Dr Shamshad Akhtar briefed the cabinet about the situation and said that Germany, Brazil and Spain are early favourites for the World Cup.
The federal cabinet stressed the significance of fatigue, considering some of the biggest names in the tournament would’ve played long league seasons.
The cabinet termed it important for the so called big teams to not take others lightly in the group stage, because major upsets are witnessed at every World Cup.
Interior Secretary Arshad Mirza gave a detailed briefing to the cabinet about the favourites for the Golden Boot and Golden Ball awards.
He also briefed the meeting on various administrative policy initiatives taken for ensuring screenings for the caretaker government throughout the World Cup.
At the end of the meeting Caretaker Prime Minister directed asked the cabinet to place their bets on their favourite teams.
Justice (R) Nasirul-Mulk himself vocally went with Portugal, an announcement that was following by the PM doing Cristiano Ronaldo’s trademark celebration, accompanied with him shouting “Si!”
