LAKKI MARWAT: A child maid was shot dead in Tap Tekhti Khel area of Lakki Marwat, it was reported on Monday.

The deceased maid’s sister said that the seven-year-old maid was shot dead after she had an argument with the employer Kashif for coming late.

The sister was left critically injured in the shooting incident and was shifted to a nearby hospital in Peshawar, according to details. However, the suspect managed to escape the site of the incident before the police arrived.

A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.

On May 2, 2017, a 12-year-old child maid, Samiah, was reportedly thrown out of her employers’ house, late at night in Faisalabad.

After the locals saw the girl and her bruised face, they informed the police and gathered outside her employer Jawad’s house in protest.

The police took Samiah in their custody and said the matter will be taken further after the medical examination of the girl.

A similar case came to media’s attention when 10-year-old maid Tayyaba was allegedly tortured by her employers, Additional District and Sessions Judge Raja Khurram Ali and his wife Maheen Zafar, in Islamabad.

On April 17, the IHC granted bail to Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Raja Khurram Ali Khan and his wife Maheen Zafar after sentencing them to one-year in jail for torturing the child maid.

The suspended judge and his wife were given prison time — as well as a fine of Rs50,000 each — for their involvement in keeping the then 10-year-old Tayyaba in wrongful confinement, burning her hand over a missing broom, beating her with a ladle, detaining her in a storeroom, and threatening her of “dire consequences”.

IHC Justice Aamer Farooq announced the verdict in the Tayyaba torture case after over a year-long period of proceedings.

The order stated that the evidence in the case reflected that the accused deliberately demonstrated negligence in the matter of minor girl. The prosecution had proved its case without any ambiguity against the nominated accused under section 328-A PPC.

However, a week later, the verdict was suspended by the high court after the suspended Additional District and Sessions Judge Raja Khurram Ali Khan and his wife Maheen Zafar had challenged their year-long imprisonment.
