–CM says PML-N fulfilled its responsibilities while PTI ‘deceived’ masses

LAHORE: Outgoing Punjab Chief Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday said that the general elections should be held on time and in a transparent manner.

Speaking during a meeting with Punjab Governor Muhammad Rafique Rajwana, who called on him here, Shehbaz said that Pakistan and democracy could only be strengthened through transparent polls and so there shouldn’t be any delay unlike “some elements wanted”.

He said his government had resolved the problems of the people considering them their own and all mega projects had speedily been completed to provide the much-needed relief to the masses.

“Special attention has been paid to the development of south Punjab and the region has been given more funds as compared to its population,” said Shehbaz.

“In the past, rulers raised hollow slogans and did nothing practical to resolve the problems of the people living in southern Punjab,” he said and added that the people of south Punjab had trusted PML-N in the past and would do so in the future as well.

Praising Shehbaz Sharif for developing Punjab, Rafique Rajwana, at the occasion, said that the chief minister had changed the map of the province. “Shehbaz’s five-year term is an example of hard work, honesty and transparency,” said the governor and added that the government of Punjab had made new history by saving billions of rupees.

“Every step was taken by the Punjab government for public welfare and development and the people of other provinces praise the progress in Punjab,” he concluded

Separately, PML-N Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) President Engineer Amir Muqam called on Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and paid tributes for his untiring service. He said that Shehbaz had proved through his actions that service, hard work and honesty were priceless.

“The PML-N president has completed countless development and public welfare projects in Lahore and all over Punjab and the credit for modernising hospitals in the province is a crown of the PML-N government,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Shehbaz said that the PML-N-led Punjab government had fulfilled its responsibilities as an obligation while on the other hand, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had disappointed the people of KP.

“[Imran Khan] Niazi has inflicted damage and destruction at every stage due to his U-turns and lies but PML-N will bring about development and prosperity in KP if accorded an opportunity,” he said and added that the people of KP had been deceived by the slogan of change.
