–Rana Sanaullah says PTI thinks after taking decisions

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has criticised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan for backtracking on his earlier decision of appointing former top bureaucrat Nasir Saeed Khosa as interim Punjab chief minister, questioning if a person who constantly takes U-turns has the right to lead a nation.

Earlier, on Monday, a consensus was reached between the Punjab government and opposition when both sides had agreed –on PTI’s insistence—to appoint former top bureaucrat to head the provincial set up till the formation of a new government.  However, two days later, on Wednesday, the Imran Khan-led PTI withdrew support for his candidature.

Soon after PTI made their decision public, Shehbaz Sharif had expressed his surprise over the change of heart, saying Khosa’s name had been suggested by the opposition and finalised after a thorough consultation.

“It is beyond one’s comprehension why PTI withdrew the name of its own nominee after finalisation of the process,” he had wondered at the time.

Later in the evening, CM Shehbaz had said that the issue of caretaker chief minister stood settled as a summary in this regard had already been sent to the Punjab governor and it could not be legally withdrawn. “The governor was expected to sign the summary on Thursday,” he had added.

While addressing a delegation at Lahore Press Club on Thursday, Shehbaz questioned: “Can a person who keeps taking U-turns be the rightful prime minister of Pakistan.”

Criticising the PTI chief, the Punjab chief minister continued, “Niazi is a master of U-turns.”

“He [Imran] is not capable of doing politics,” he added.

Separately, the chief minister reviewed the pace of revamping work at the Model THQ Hospital Kamoke. He visited different wards where he spoke to patients and inquired after their health.

Speaking on the occasion, Shehbaz said that significant improvement had been recorded in the healthcare sector and added that transforming the hospitals was his mission.

“It is for the first time that ordinary people are getting the same medicines that the elite can afford and Rs6 billion have been spent for the purpose during the current fiscal year,” he said, adding that modern labs had been established in Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Multan and Bahawalpur to facilitate the people.

‘PTI IS NON-SERIOUS PARTY’:

Meanwhile, PML-N leader and provincial minister Rana Sanaullah said that it has become a ‘tradition’ of PTI to think after taking decisions.

Talking to the media outside the accountability court in Islamabad, Rana Sanaullah said that consultation cannot take place with the “non-serious” party like PTI again.

“Process of consultation has been completed, constitutionally, we cannot have more consultation over the name of caretaker CM,” Rana Sanaullah said.

He said that Governor House Punjab will issue notification at midnight, if Nasir Khosa agrees to hold the office, else the matter will go to the election commission.
