LAHORE/LONDON – Despite singlehandedly leading Pakistan to an historic triumph in the first Test of the ongoing series against England at Lord’s, former captain, and Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, would let fast bowler Mohammad Abbas keep the Man of the Match award.
In an exclusive interview with The Dependent Khan said that unlike others he is happy to share glory.
“Throughout my career, in which I have singlehandedly won countless matches for my team and the players working under me, I never even mention myself,” Khan said. “Unlike others despite doing everything because of which the team won the match, I graciously share glory with those lesser talented bunch of people who should really be honoured to even share the name with me on the team sheet.”
Continuing, the PTI chief confirmed that in line with his generous personality he would let Abbas – who took eight wickets in the Lord’s Test – keep his Man of the Match award.
“Who knows how many more chances the poor chap would get,” Khan said. “On the other hand, I am someone who is a winner mainly because I exist. I am winning matches when I’m not playing.”
“I won Pakistan the Champions Trophy when I was in Karachi, even though the tournament was being played in England.”
