KARACHI: Film-maker and activist Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy has been awarded an honorary degree from the United States’ Smith College for her efforts in documentary journalism in advancing human rights.

Sharmeen received her bachelor’s degree in Economics and Government from Smith College back in 2002. This time around, her degree from the prestigious university is in Fine Arts, honoris causa.
