Mian Sb’s claim of not being misinterpreted was misinterpreted, maintains Shehbaz

Khadim-e-aala Shehbaz Sharif said on Friday that Nawaz Sharif’s claim that his statement given to Dawn’s Cyril Almeida was not misinterpreted by the media was terribly misinterpreted by the media.

“When Mian Saab asked what was wrong with the statement that he had given to the newspaper, actually he was quizzing the public about what was wrong with his statement and how they could see that he would never give out the sort of message people were thinking he had given out,” said the Punjab CM, while addressing a press conference at 90, The Mall in Lahore.

“When Mian Saab said that he was distressed by the press release issued by the National Security Council, he meant that he was distressed that he himself could not be a part of the meeting that he could have also had his signs on a document that further reiterates the government’s appreciation for our armed forces,” he said.

“The press, specially the Indian press, is given to much conspiracy theories,” he continued.

“There is nothing wrong with what he had said. The problem only comes when news reports quote him directly in the exact same context of the question and answer.”
