Fake-marriage gang busted in Sialkot

GUJRANWALA: A Gujranwala based seven-member gang involved in beguiling people into fake marriages and robbing them has been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) in Sialkot.

The seven-member gang, which includes three-women, is headed by a man known as Shaakir who worked as a Nikkah registrar, according to ACE Director Farreed Ahmed.

Shaakir ran marriage advertisements on social media outlets and targeted overseas Pakistanis and prepare fake marriage contracts.

Women of the group then fed sleeping-pills to the unsuspecting grooms and then call other members of the group to the house who robbed and made explicit videos of the victims.

Gang members later blackmailed the victims with the videos, warning them against filing a complaint with the police.
