Justice Isa tells CJP he can’t hear human rights cases

ISLAMABAD: During the proceedings of suo motu notice pertaining to the affairs of Peshawar Mental Hospital, Justice Qazi Faez Esa objected over Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar’s remarks saying that under Article 184 of the constitution, cases involving human rights should be decided by the department concerned.

In reaction, the proceeding was adjourned and later CJP Nisar and Justice Mansoor Ali Shah heard the matter.

The CJP has shown disappointment over performances and facilities of Lady Reading Hospital and Mental Hospital Peshawar. During a visit to Peshawar Mental Hospital, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP)Chief Minister Pervez Khattak along with Chief Secretary summoned whereas the Chief Secretary confessed government’s shortfall.
