WASHINGTON DC: The US President Donal Trump has officially announced to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal that was signed in 2015. The US president said that he reached this decision after consulting with other allies in the Middle-East.
Calling the Iranian regime ‘dictatorship’, Trump reiterated his stance that the deal had plenty of flaws. He said that Iran has increased its budget by 40 per cent after the lifting of sanctions and is spending it on building missiles capable of carrying nuclear weapons. He said that the evidence that Iran is still pursuing its nuclear programme was given by Israel, which was enough to reach to validate the accusations.
He said that the sanctions had proved to be insufficient to deter Iran from continuing to make attempts to acquire nuclear weapons. He said that he would engage with the US allies in the Middle-East and China to craft a better policy in relation to Iran’s nuclear programme. He alleged Iran of spreading ‘havoc’ across the region.
Earlier, Israel’s Primi Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had accused Iran of secretly developing the nuclear weapons despite commitments made to the contrary. He further alleged of Iran planning to deploy weapons in Syria to attack Israel.
In 2015, then US president Barrack Obama had signed a landmark agreement with Iran which came to be known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPA) with five other major global powers including the UK, France, Russia, China and Germany.
