HYDERABAD: Sindh High Court’s (SHC) Hyderabad circuit bench comprising Justice Shamsuddin Abbasi and Justice Naimatullah Phulphoto ordered registration of a case and investigation against SHO of the Umerkot women police station and two private individuals if a concrete offence was made out in the statement of Amisha Khaskheli, the girl at centre of underage marriage issue, reported a local English newspaper.
The underage girl was produced before the court in response to its May 2 order passed on an application filed by her mother, Umran Khaskheli. Meanwhile, SHOs of Umerkot, Pithoro women police stations, and Samaro, Bodhar Farm police stations recorded their statements before the court.
The police officers told the court that SHO Khushbakht, of Umerkot police station, along with her subordinates raided a ceremony in Haji Hashim Palli village on April 18 to stop the alleged underage marriage.
