LAHORE: An elegant prize distribution ceremony was held for the winning participants of the 1st All Pakistan Food Authority Table Tennis Tournament held at Chromatex Table Tennis Club here on Monday.
The tournament was jointly organised by Punjab Food Authority (PFA) and Pakistan Table Tennis Federation (PTTF) for promoting sports activities and encouraging the youth to participate in the games.
PFA Director General Noor-ul-Amin Mengal was the chief guest of the ceremony. On the occasion, PTTF Secretary Ahmar Malik, tennis lovers, officials of both organisations including PTTF and PFA, and people from different segments of the society were present.
Over 200 players participated all over the country in a four-day tournament including teams of WAPDA, ARMY, KPK, Baluchistan, Sindh and 36 districts of Punjab.
According to the tournament’s results, both men and women teams of WAPDA beat Army and Chromatex Table Tennis Club in finals.
In the Girl’s Team Event, Lahore got the 1st position, Kasur 2nd and Jhang/Rawalpindi received 3rd/4th positions, respectively. In the Boy’s Team Event, Faisalabad kept on top by beating Lahore district while Toba Take Singh and Bahawalpur secured 3rd and 4th positions, respectively.
In the Girls Singles category, Fatima Khan got the 1st position, Aamna Jabeen 2nd, Kalsoom Khan 3rd and Perniya Khan 4th. Whereas, Muhammad Hamza secured the 1st position, Taimur Khan 2nd, Usman Amjad 3rd and Saad Naeem 4th position in the Boys Singles Category.
In the Women Singles, the first position was won by Fatima Khan. The second and third positions were secured by Qurat Mujtaba and Ayesha Fahim, respectively. In the Men’s Singles, Asim Qureshi clinched the first position, Jahangir Khan 2nd, Subhan 3rd and Faheem secured 4th position.
Noor-ul-Amin Mengal has distributed cash prizes, certificates, medals and trophies among winners. Speaking on the occasion, he said that such tournaments are talent hunt for young players and our aim was to promote sports and provide a right platform to youngsters as playing a social corporate responsibility.
