PM forms body to probe corruption of previous govts

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday formed a committee consisting of lawmakers to review mega- developmental projects and tasked them to find out corruption and embezzlement done during previous government era.
The review committee, led by Hamza Shahbaz, and consisting of Senator Mushahidullah Khan, Minister of State Jam Kamal and MNAs Captain (r) Safdar and Chaudhry Jafar Iqbal will submit its monthly report.
The committee has started its function and a meeting chair by Hamza Shahbaz was held here the other day.
According to reports, the mega uplift projects of far-flung areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA would be reviewed in first phase.
Reports said that the committee has been formed after it came to the knowledge of the Prime Minister that millions of rupees were released for 49 potable water supply projects in KP and FATA but no physical work was done on the projects. Moreover, the PM also came to know that some parliamentarians took kick backs and commission in development projects.
