Opposition parties embrace #FaadiKoKhilaoBC in nationwide rallies ahead of elections

ISLAMABAD/LAHORE/KARACHI/PESHAWAR/QUETTA – Leading opposition parties in Pakistan are embracing ‘#FaadiKoKhilaoBC’ as their political chant in nationwide rallies, ahead of elections, as they look to dethrone the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) responsible for the continued omission of Fawad Alam from the national cricket team.

Last week’s “Political Sunday”, wherein Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) held a massive rally in Lahore, Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) conducted one in Mardan and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) gathered masses in Karachi, was based on the one-point agenda of ‘Justice for Faadi’.

“The only agenda of these rallies, held on one single day, was to demand #FaadiKoKhilaoBC – a movement which has already rocked the world, and is now slowly spreading in Pakistan,” a leading political commentator said, wishing anonymity.

Analysts say these rallies were held to address the boiling anger of people at grass root level.

“Faadi has emerged as the sign of struggle, hope and continuous rejection that the people of Pakistan have been facing for decades,” another analyst said.

A leading sports analyst and Australian cricket commentator also joined in and posted about the growing political phenomenon on his social media account: “The rallies in support of Fawad Alam are getting bigger by the day”.

Meanwhile, radical Faadists have already rallied the militants and have been distributing pamphlets and literature spreading their ideology.

“This will grow, may be slowly, but surely,” a Faadist pamphlet found in Zhob read.

“We are just waiting for the Test matches to start, and when they will crumble without Faadi, it will be time for our statistical books to hit the society,” graffiti on a wall near Khushab read.
