LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and Punjab Chief Minister on Thursday said that PML-N’s only agenda was national prosperity and the government burnt the midnight oil to achieve the goal.

During a meeting with PML-N Sindh’s Sherazi brothers, who called on him here, the chief minister said public service and national development had always been his mission and new records of public service had been set whenever an opportunity was accorded to him.

“Our past and present are filled with exemplary steps taken for the wellbeing of the people. On the other hand, the claimants of change have done nothing other than raising hollow slogans. Zardari and Niazi have limited their politics to wasting the time of the people,” said Shehbaz while training guns on his political opponents.

“The chaotic state of affairs in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Sindh are enough to reveal their poor performance,” he said and added that heaps of garbage, dilapidated fleets of buses and broken roads in the megacity of Karachi were enough to unveil Zardari’s false promises in Sindh.

He said that development in one province would not be termed as national development and Pakistan would progress only when other provinces would also move forward with the same pace in the journey of development.

“If Almighty Allah accords us another opportunity to serve the masses then the journey of development will be spread to Karachi as well as other parts of the Sindh province,” said Shehbaz. He said the PML-N government had speedily taken forward its public welfare agenda without paying heed to political opponents.

“Those who have sold false dreams to the people have been fully exposed in their provinces. One party has ruined KP while the other has wreaked Sindh. Contrary to them, a revolutionary programme has been implemented to ensure public development and prosperity in Punjab,” said the chief minister while adding that his opponents remained engrossed in the politics of allegations while the PML-N served the masses.

“This agenda of public welfare will be continued in the future as well,” concluded Shehbaz.

During the meeting, the Sherazi brother praised Shehbaz’s performance in Punjab. “You have made Lahore and other parts of the province a role model for other provinces,” they said.

“The people living in Sindh and other parts of the country give the credit of development process in Punjab to you as well as to your proactive team. You have set a new example by completing mega projects before time and Shehbaz Speed is, in fact, Pakistan Speed,” they added.

Those who called on Shehbaz included Minister of State for National Food Security Syed Ayaz Ali Shah Sherazi, former MNA Syed Shafqat Hussain Shah Sherazi and PML-N Thatha President Haji Muhammad Hanif Memon.

Separately, Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the suicide attack on a vehicle carrying employees of a security agency in Attock.

In a statement issued here, he expressed a deep sense of sorrow and grief over the deaths and paid tribute to those who embraced martyrdom in the attack.

He also extended his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families and directed the administration to provide best healthcare facilities to the injured. The chief minister has also sought a report from the Attock DPO.

Earlier, a delegation of foreign investors led by AKD Group Chairman Aqeel Karim Dhedhi called on the chief minister.

Speaking on the occasion, Shehbaz said that Pakistani economy was rapidly progressing and added that the growth rate had remained 5.75 per cent during the current fiscal year.

“Due to solid economic policies of the government, investors’ trust has been increased as Pakistan is the best market for investment and foreign investors should take full benefit of such wonderful opportunities,” said the chief minister. He also said that incidents of terrorism had sufficiently been decreased during the incumbent government’s tenure and peace had been restored in Karachi.

He said that CPEC had created tremendous opportunities and the investors should come forward to reap the benefits. “A new history has been written in Pakistan by completing the energy projects in a record period of time,” said the chief minister and added that three gas-based electricity generation projects had been installed and the Punjab government was also setting up another 1,260MW gas-based plant.

“We have completed the projects with transparency, speed and high-quality,” he maintained.

The foreign investors, at the occasion, said that Pakistan was the best country in regard to investments and the emerging market was very attractive for investors. “You have provided a conducive atmosphere for investment by employing your vision and hard work,” they further said.

Provincial Ministers Rana Mashhood Ahmed, Sheikh Allauddin, Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Punjab government spokesman Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan and others were also present on the occasion.
