Independence Day not the right day for Azadi March?

A petition was submitted in the Supreme Court’s Lahore Registry on Monday, seeking directions for preventing “Azadi March” announced by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan on August 14.

It is contended in a petition, filed by Barrister Zafarullah Khan, that August 14 is a national Independence Day where Pakistanis across the world mark this day with jingoism.

“Independence Day is a very important for any country, however Imran Khan has announced protest march on the said day that may lead to anarchy in the country,” the petition stated.

The petitioner contended that such a march on Independence Day would tarnish Pakistan’s image internationally. He sought court directions for stopping the PTI’s march on August 14.
