ISLAMABAD: The government has allocated Rs 802.699 million for climate change division under a Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the financial year 2018-19.
According to budgetary documents, total Rs 802.699 million is earmarked for Climate Change Division. Out of the total amount, Rs 766.699 mln is for ongoing schemes/projects while Rs 36.000 mln allocate for new schemes during FY 2018-19.
As per details of allocations for new schemes, Rs 20.000 mln for climate resilient urban human settlements unit, Rs 16.000 mln for the establishment of Pakistan WASH strategic planning & coordination cell (facilitating achievements of SDGs 6.1 and 6.2).
Similarly, Rs 88.494mln is allocated for construction of boundary wall of zoo cum botanical garden of Islamabad, Rs 16.205 mln for establishment of geometric centre for climate change, Islamabad, Rs390.000 mln for Green Pakistan Programme-Revival of Forestry Resources in Pakistan, Rs 229.000 mln for Green Pakistan Programme-Revival of Wildlife Resources in Pakistan, Rs 19.000 mln for Green Pakistan Programme-Strengthening Zoological Survey of Pakistan undertaking immediate inventory of endorsing wildlife species and habitat across Pakistan and Rs 22.000 mln for sustainable land management programme to combat desertification in Pakistan.
Moreover, as per annual plan 2018-19, Pakistan is developing an investment framework to reduce GHG emission.
100 million new indigenous plants will be planted under Green Pakistan Programme for the revival of forestry with an estimated cost of Rs 3.652 billion. An amount of Rs738.9 million has been allocated for the revival of wildlife. The total allocation for the development of sector stood at 1,423 million.
