LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) cyber crime wing on Thursday detained a man for allegedly blackmailing women using their Facebook pictures and videos, according to a local media outlet.

The FIA arrested the man named Zubair during a raid and confiscated a phone and laptop with explicit photos and videos. A case has been registered under the cyber act.

The raid took place on the complaint of a woman named Firdous, a resident of Iqbal Town, who stated how the man tried to blackmail her after befriending her on Facebook.

After they took a few pictures together he edited these pictures and videos to make them explicit and then blackmailed her for several months to get money.

Earlier this week, the FIA’s cyber crime wing declared a senior Punjab Police official as an absconder after he uploaded his wife’s private pictures and videos on social media. With the help of a friend, he made a fake Facebook account and forwarded her pictures to her family in order to prove that she was being ‘immoral’. The said police officer wanted to get married again but did not get the permission of his wife to do so.
