The father of Intezar Ahmed, who was killed by allegedly a group of policemen, on Monday voiced his dissatisfaction over the joint investigation team (JIT) probing the case.

Talking to the media, he said although he has not even been given the JIT report, suspects have been provided with the report. “I was surprised to see the report with the suspects,” he said.

He accused the police of supporting the suspects but said he has confidence in the judiciary.

This JIT was formed after Intezar’s father had raised objections on first JIT. The Sindh Home Department formed another JIT on Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah’s instructions on February 12.

An anti-terrorism court heard the case and reserved its judgment today on the suspects’ plea to transfer the case to a sessions court and adjourned the hearing until April 19.

In their plea, the suspects argued that acts of terrorism do not apply in the case, while the prosecution argued that the case does include the aspect of terrorism which is why it should be heard in the ATC.

Eight officials of the Anti Car Lifting Cell are in custody for allegedly opening fire at Intezar, while Sub-Inspector Tariq Rahim is out on interim bail.

Intezar Ahmed was killed after the ACLC police opened fire on his vehicle on Khayaban-e-Ittehad, DHA on the night of January 13.
