KARACHI: Load-shedding in the metropolitan city due to the gas shortage has made the daily life of locals difficult.

According to media reports, the electricity has been going out three to four times a day, while the areas exempted by K-electric are also facing the load-shedding. The areas facing the outage include Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, Landhi, several blocks of Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Gulistan-e-Johar.

The locals of Karachi have expressed anger over the unannounced load-shedding as soon as the temperature started to rise stating that K-electric is not only making them live without electricity but also charge them high as compared to normal bills.

Meanwhile, the K-electric spokesperson stated that power outages in the city are a result of the gas shortage. “The power plants have been affected by the gas shortfalls of 100mmcf,” the official said.

According to power division spokesperson, however, there is no shortfall of electricity in Pakistan as the country needs 15,487 megawatts of electricity while available units are 15,600 MW.
