As a 26 year old youngster I too deserved a chance in the Windies series: Ahmad Shehzad

LAHORE – Opening batsman Ahmad Shehzad has criticised his omission from the starting 11 of all three T20I matches in the recently concluded series against the West Indies in Karachi.

Talking exclusively to The Dependent Shehzad said that considering that the youngsters were given a chance to play in the series, he deserved to play as well.

“As a 26 year old youngster I too deserved a chance in the Windies series,” Shehzad said. “Even though I should just be selected for being who I am, but even if you want to go with the youngster billing, it is simply inexcusable to not play me.”

Referring to the debuts of Hussain Talat, Asif Ali and Shaheen Afridi, Shehzad said he too could have debuted again if given the opportunity.

“I am still young. I think I am not too old to debut again,” the opening batsman maintained.

Talking about the upcoming tour of England and Ireland, Shehzad said that since experience is needed in Test cricket he deserves a chance in the series.

“As a 26 year old experienced man I deserve a chance in the England series,” he maintained.
