ISLAMABAD: Kashmir Solidarity Day will be observed on Friday to condemn the ongoing state terrorism and violence in Indian occupied Kashmir.
A resolution to this effect was adopted in an emergency meeting of the federal cabinet held in Islamabad on Monday with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in the chair.
Rallies, functions and walks would be held in different parts of the country as well as by Pakistanis and Kashmiris living around the globe to expose Indian atrocities and highlight the need for peaceful resolution of the longstanding dispute.
The government has decided to initiate a number of measures to apprise the international community about grave human rights violations by the Indian occupation forces. Special envoys would be sent to the selected world capitals to highlight the Indian atrocities in the occupied valley.
World bodies like the United Nations (UN) and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and other human rights organisations will also be approached in this regard.
Following a special cabinet meeting, PM Abbasi visited Muzaffarabad and addressed the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly and AJK Council.
He emphatically stated that Pakistan stood shoulder to shoulder with its Kashmiri brethren in their just struggle for the right to self-determination.
He said the government, people and all political parties were united on the Kashmir issue and would continue to extend moral, political and diplomatic support to the Kashmiris.
