5.2 magnitude earthquake jolts KP

PESHAWAR: An earthquake of high intensity jolted upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Saturday-Sunday midnight but no causalities or property damages were reported.

According to the geological wing of PMD (Pakistan Meteorological Department), tremors measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale were felt in Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Chitral, Dir Upper, Malakand, Kohistan and various other surrounding areas. People of the areas were asleep at the time but woke up and vacated their homes in panic.

The epicentre of the quake was stated to be in Hindu Kush mountains, 191 kilometres beneath the earth’s crust.
