PGF’s ladies golf championship concludes in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF), in collaboration with Federal Golf Association, organised the 3rd Pakistan Ladies Amateur Golf Championship from March 16-18 at the Islamabad Golf Club.

Serena Hotels sponsored the event under the sports diplomacy initiative.

At the close of the third and final day of the tournament, winners were announced and honoured with trophies. Dr Sania Nishtar was the chief guest at the event.

Zeenat Ayesha thanked the chief guest for her patronage of the game and Serena Hotels for their support in promoting lady’s golf through their sports diplomacy.

Serena Hotels CEO Aziz Boolani said, “The Serena Hotels’ sports diplomacy initiative began with a foreign office golf tournament and now under this banner, the hotel chain hosts numerous sports events on national and international level that includes the prestigious President of Pakistan Gold Medal Golf Tournament and the President Gold Cup International Squash Championship among others.”

In the tournament, Sarunchana Rattanasin won the gross winner in gold category with a score of 222 from Thailand, whereas Tantita Aungsusee Wong was runner-up in Net-Gold Category with a score of 223, also from Thailand.

Sonia Akhter from Bangladesh was second gross runner-up, whereas Hamna Amjad was the net winner and Zaibun Nisa was net runner-up.

In the silver category, Naghmana Atif of KGC was gross winner whereas Tehmina Rashid of ICGC was the first runner-up and the second runner-up was Abiha Hanim Syed of KGC.

On the other hand, net winner in the silver category was DSP Shahzadi Gulfam of Lahore Garrison and the first runner-up was Marina Khan of KGC  while Shabana Shahid Siddiqui of KGC was the second runner-up.
