ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) President and former prime minister Chaudhry Shujat Hussain on Tuesday nominated former lawmaker Mehboobullah Jan as PML-Q Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) president.

Mehboobullah Jan had recently joined PML-Q and his nomination was announced by Chaudhry Shujat Hussain in a press conference in Islamabad.

Addressing the media, the PML-Q president expressed hope that Mehboobullah would play his role in activating the party in the province at all levels.

Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, Tariq Bashir Cheema, Ajmal Khan Wazir, Muhammad Basharat Raja and other leaders were also present on the occasion.

The PML-Q president said that he was against politics of hurling abuses or clash with institutions.

He said that Pakistan’s foreign policy had failed and in Saudi Arabia, US President Donald Trump met the Afghan president but held no meeting with Pakistani prime minister because of which the country was insulted, adding that if he were in Nawaz Sharif’s place, he would have returned.

Referring to Nawaz’s criticism of Pakistan Army, he said that Pakistan Army was offering sacrifices in the war against internal and external enemies of the country while Nawaz was running a campaign under a well-conceived plan to tarnish the image of the army.

He said that Indian Prime Minister Nirendra Modi was committing a massacre of Muslim women, children and youth in Indian Occupied Kashmir and had admitted India’s role in dividing Pakistan in 1971 but Nawaz Sharif had never said a single word against him nor did he mention Kulbhushan in the United Nations (UN) during his speech.

On the occasion, Mehboobullah Jan, expressing his confidence in the leadership of Chaudhry Shujat Hussain and Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, said that he would play his role in strengthening the party.
