  • Info minister says Imran levels fake allegations to hide performance in KP

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb Saturday alleged that political rivals Imran Khan and Asif Zardari were engaged in horse trading in the upcoming polls for the Senate chairmanship.

Speaking to media here, she said, “Who are those unknown people who dissolve the government in Balochistan.”  “Firstly, Balochistan’s government is dissolved and then Imran Khan is spotted standing on right side of the new chief minister of the province and Asif Ali Zardari is seen standing on the left,” she added.

She alleged that the two leaders were engaged in horse trading through the independent senators in Balochistan.

“Your tweets and lies are an attempt to take away the attention from questions raised on your party’s performance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP),” she remarked. The minister added that Imran Khan levels baseless allegation against his opponents in order to hide his performance in KP.

She further alleged Imran Khan of bringing money from abroad through hundi process.

Marriyum said that Nawaz Sharif was the only leader who accepted every decision from the court, and on the contrary, Imran raised a hue and cry over any decision against him.

“Imran should inform why he submitted fake documents in the apex court,” she asked.

The minister stated that opponents of the ruling party were trying to weaken it but they will not succeed in their aspirations. She added that people believed in Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and that it was the only party which delivers on its promises.

Commenting on the proceedings of the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) corruption references against the former premier Nawaz Sharif’s family, she stated that the cross-examination of Wajid Zia, an important NAB witness, will be the conclusion of the cases. Zia was the head of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) that probed the Panama Papers case.

Earlier, addressing a ceremony organised by a private school, the minister stressed the need for promoting tolerance and inculcating indigenous values in the students.

The minister stated that it was the responsibility of the state to make children productive and useful citizens of the country and the process begins at home with the values parents impart to their children.

She said private schools were playing an important role in imparting quality education in line with modern standards. She further stated that under the Prime Minister’s Education Reform Scheme, the process of bridging the gap between public and private sector education had begun in the capital.
