LAHORE: Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique on Saturday submitted in the Supreme Court (SC) that he is not the owner of any housing scheme and has no links with Paragon City.
The federal minister made these comments whilst appearing before the SC Lahore registry hearing the Paragon City case. He further added before the court that sponsored programmes were being run against him on media where he was either declared owner of twins tower or housing schemes.
Upon hearing this, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar told Saad Rafique that the general perception about the housing society was that the federal minister owned it. The CJP then sought Rafique’s affidavit and asked him to align his comments with those made during media talks.
Saad Rafique assured the court that he will submit the affidavit on March 12.
Meanwhile, the CJP directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to carry on its probe into the matter
Later talking to the media after the hearing, Khawaja Saad said that he is under media trial for two and a half years and hoped that the routine of hurling allegations at him will end soon.
The Supreme Court (SC) had on Thursday summoned Saad Rafique in the Paragon City case.
