WASHINGTON: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Aizaz Chaudhry on Saturday said Pakistan will not let anyone use Pakistan’s soil to launch attacks against any other country.
While talking to a delegation of US journalists, Chaudhry said that Pakistan has sacrificed a lot in the fight against terrorism, and will not allow utilisation of its land to attack anyone.
He further said that the economic statistics and security situation of the country have improved considerably due to the operation against terrorism.
Chaudhry reiterated that the country’s wrong perception needs to be cast-off, and it should be viewed in a new light adding that the operation against terrorists has cleansed terror-ridden areas while developmental works are underway too.
The United States and other various global partners are investing in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the ambassador said adding that Afghanistan’s instability has affected Pakistan and the solution to the Afghan conflict lies in the hands of local stakeholders.
“Peace in Afghanistan is necessary to peace in South-Asia,” he said.
Chaudhry, while talking about relations between Washington and Islamabad, stated that he hoped for a cordial relationship with the US.
Last month, the Ambassador to the US had said that any ‘breakdown’ in the relationship between the US and Afghanistan would be a mistake as Pakistan and US have worked together for seven decades and should continue to do so.
