LAHORE: Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP) President Ijaz Hashmi said on Saturday that holding of Senate elections is a great success for the democratic forces in Pakistan.
Talking to reporters, he said that the successful holding of the elections was a big defeat for those who were trying to create uncertainty about the polling process by making different claims.
He expressed confidence that the upcoming general elections would also be held per schedule and the incumbent government would complete its term.
Hashmi said that the parliament and the government deserved appreciation for their role in bringing political stability in the country.
He said, “Those elements that introduced politics of unrest, chaos and dharna have failed in their designs.” He also said that JUP wanted an across the board accountability of all corrupt elements.
He hoped that the people would vote for Islamic forces in the general elections instead of supporting secular elements.
He said the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) would emerge as a major political force in the after the general elections and it would implement the Islamic system of governance in Pakistan.
