SC decision to remove Nawaz as party head shows no one is above law: Ehsanullah Ehsan

(Disclaimer: this is a work of fiction. Learn to take a joke; you’ll live longer.)

Reacting to the decision of the Supreme Court to disqualify Nawaz Sharif as President of the PML-N, senior militant and former Taliban spokesperson Ehsanullah Ehsan has said that the decision of the SC shows that no one is above the law.

“Of course they have disqualified him! How can someone that does not meet Articles 62 and 63 of the constitution head a political party?” he asked speaking with The Dependent.

“This is an insult to the constitution, and I think the good justices have done us all a favour by ridding us of such an embarrassment in our history” he added.

“No man that does not respect the constitution should be allowed to head anything, let alone a political party. This was a complete farce which the Supreme Court has finally done away with” he told.

“I think we should celebrate such decisions with zeal” he said.

“I mean, sure, we can get into the legal and constitutional technicalities, and how parliament is supposed to be sovereign and the PML-N government has mandate, but why bother with such nitty gritties?” he questioned.

“What about the optics of the situation? What message would you have us sending to the outside world? That disqualified persons head parties in this country? That’s not my Pakistan!” he added before hanging up in anger.
