RAWALPINDI: A student was critically injured and later died in a hospital due to his injuries after a bus ran him over in the town of Gujar Khan on Wednesday.

Eyewitnesses say that the student was trying to climb on the bus when the driver sped away, crushing the student in the process. The bus driver fled immediately after the incident and the identity of the student has not yet been confirmed.

Schoolmates of the student and fellow bystanders blocked the Lahore-Islamabad GT Road in protest and smashed the bus’ windscreen.
