ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has once again issued notices to the parties concerned on a petition filed against the appointment of State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor Tariq Bajwa.

A single bench of IHC, presided over by Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb, took up the case for hearing on Wednesday.

Advocate Latif Khosa appeared on behalf of the petitioners and prayed before the court that the case was of an important nature, therefore, it should be heard on a priority basis, adding the appointment of Tariq Bajwa had been made against the rules. Later, the court accepted the plea.

It is pertinent to mention here that the court had issued notices to secretary finance and SBP governor during a previous hearing. So far, the respondents have not submitted their replies to the court.

Around 23 senators of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), including Senator Taj Haider, had filed a petition challenging the appointment of Tariq Bajwa. The court adjourned the hearing of the case till March 21.
