Ahsan directs IGP to set up reconciliation committees in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior Ahsan Iqbal Tuesday directed Islamabad inspector general of police (IGP) to constitute reconciliation committees as part of efforts to introduce community policing in the capital city.

The minister gave the directions while chairing the review meeting of the interior ministry here.

National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) chairman, Federal Investigation Agency director general, Islamabad IGP and officials of Islamabad district administration and interior ministry attended the meeting.

The minister said that sports competitions should be held for improving the physical fitness of the police, adding that modern technology should be used for putting the system of policing in place.

Ahsan further said that Federal Investigation Agency should review the list of tour operators and credible tour operators should be included in the list. He added that the work on computerisation of land record of Islamabad should be expedited.

The facility of online visas should be immediately started and the overseas Pakistanis should be given best facilities when they apply for identity cards and passports, the minister said. He also directed the district administration to ensure implementation of the timing of marriage halls, and one dish policy.
