KARACHI: Some pictures of televangelist Aamir Liaquat Hussain in which he seems to be cajoling Jang and Geo group CEO, Mir Shakil went viral on the social media on Wednesday.
The former politician is no stranger to controversies.
During his days at Bol News, Aamir had gone on regular tirades against Mir Shakil and his channel, accusing him of being a traitor among other things.
However, in the pictures which are making rounds on the internet, he is apparently ‘seeking forgiveness’, going as far as using pleading gestures to appease Mir Shakil.
In December 2017, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) had recommended fine and other measures against Bol News for broadcasting objectionable content against Mir Shakilur Rahman and his son Mir Ibrahim Rahman.
The council had received a total of 13 complaints made against the anchor out of which six were filed by GEO TV Group Director Hassan Mustafa, two by anchor Talat Hussain, two by Geo TV Network CEO, Mir Ibrahim Rahman and one each by Shahzaib Khanzada, Najam Sethi and Muaaz Ahsan.
Aamir was accused of broadcasting a life-threatening and defamatory hate speech against Mir Shakil, Mir Ibrahim and the channel besides labelling the former as ‘Ghaddar-e-Watan’ and a ‘blackmailer’. The complaints read that the former politician was running an organized defamatory hate campaign against the Geo Group and its employees.
PEMRA had observed that during the “Aisay Nahi Chalay Ga” programme, Aamir Liaquat, on various occasions, declared Mir Ibrahim as the “son of India violating the internationally-established principles of reporting and journalism”.
He needs pie from Ramadan transmission to become a Maulvi again.. He has always shown his desire to be famous and he could do anything to acquire it, be it licking any shoes.
The picture showing Aamir Lisquat’s obsequious posture towards Mir Shakeel Ur Rehman is enough to say it all about his character. Aamir Lisquat’s is a hypocrite, a liar, and an exploiter of simple folks’ religious sentiments. He should be tried for all of these moral offences.
