Booklet ‘Safe Child, Strong Pakistan’ ready: minister

LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Affairs Khalil Tahir Sandhu on Tuesday said the provincial government has developed a comprehensive booklet “Safe Child, Strong Pakistan” to safeguard the children in future.

In this connection, he said that a committee has been formed under the Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah.

Addressing a meeting held at the Human Rights camp office, the minister said it has been decided that February 7 will be observed as the Child Protection Day throughout the province, on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He said that it is the need of the hour that the young students of primary classes are educated about their bodies like the good touch and the bad touch, etc.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tahir said that the government would launch a “search alert system” like the “amber alert” to prevent the abduction of children. He directed Secretary Asim Kamal to play a leading role from the platform of the department of human rights to disseminate information to private educational institutions, madrasas and all those places where minors work as child labourers.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The minister said that the affected families should be encouraged to report the cases to the police, civil society, NGOs or the civil administration.
