Health minister pays surprise visit to Jinnah Hospital

LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department Khawaja Salman Rafique paid a surprise visit to the blood bank and the emergency department of Jinnah Hospital.

On the information of the arrival of the minister, Medical Superintendent Dr Sohail Saqlain also reached the hospital in a while.

The minister inspected the blood bank services and called the Institute of Blood Transfusion Services Director Dr Zafar Iqbal to the hospital. He directed Dr Zafar Iqbal to take necessary steps for improving the conditions in the blood bank immediately.

He also directed to increase the staff in the blood bank to provide better services to the patients and reducing the long queues. He said that new equipment and additional staff will also be provided.

Later, the minister visited the emergency department of the hospital in and reviewed the arrangements for the treatment of the patients and cleanliness/hygienic conditions in the emergency. He expressed his satisfaction over the arrangements and was happy to see influenza counters operational along with the uniformed staff.

Khawaja Salman Rafique appreciated the hospital staff on wearing the proper uniform and displaying their badges of their names. The minister appreciated the hospital administration for putting its efforts into maintaining cleanliness and ensuring appropriate arrangements for the provision of medical treatment in the emergency department of the hospital.
