800 litres alcohol, 126 bottles recovered in a raid on distillery

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police on Thursday unearthed a distillery in capital’s slum area which led to the recovery of a huge quantity of liquor, while seven outlaws were also held for possessing the narcotics.

On a tip-off, Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sultan Azam Taimuri asked SSP Najeebur Rehman Bagvi for a raid at a distillery in a slum area. He assigned the task to SP (Saddar) Amir Khan Niazi to conduct a crackdown against those involved in bootlegging activities.

SP (Saddar) constituted a team under the supervision of  DSP (Saddar) Ghulam Baqir and SHO (Golra) Tanveer Abbasi, who along with ASIs Talat Mehmood, Khalid Mehmood Awan and other officials, conducted a raid at fake liquor factory located at Meera Baadi being run by notorious bootlegger Malik Yasir.

Police team recovered 800 litres of brewed alcohol apart from recovering 126 bottles. Besides that, chemicals used in brewing alcohol, labels of different brands of alcohol, corks and other material used in the manufacturing process were also recovered.

According to details, three persons were arrested and an FIR was lodged promptly against them. The nabbed persons have been identified as Gulzar Masih, Waqar and Qadeer.

Meanwhile Inspector Muhammad Shafique from CIA police arrested an accused Ali and recovered 1,300 gram hashish from his possession. Sub-Inspectors Zafar Iqbal and Asif Hussain arrested two accused named Amil and Ahsan Hayat and recovered a total of hashish from their possession.

Sub-Inspectors Akhtar Abbas and Abdul Sattar from Karachi company police apprehended Amir Shehzad and Adil Manzoor and recovered a total of 230 gram heroine from them.  SHO Lohibher police station Inspector Mehboob Ahmed arrested Umer Farooq and recovered 320 gram hashish from him.

ASI Irfan Abbas from Sabzi Mandi police arrested Hamza and recovered one dagger from him.

SSP Islamabad Najeebur Rehman Bugvi appreciated the performance of the officers and directed all police officials for effective policing measures in their respective areas.
