ISLAMABAD: Science and Technology Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain on Wednesday informed the National Assembly that his ministry would establish a force to check the quality of the water and penalise those involved in the sale of “impure water”.
Responding to a calling attention notice regarding inaccessibility of potable water to 80 per cent population in the country, the minister said that about 130 factories of the drinking water had been sealed over the sale of sub-standard water.
He said that a request had been dispatched to the Ministry of Interior to allow the establishment of forces for this purpose only, and expressed hope that permission would be granted soon.
