Out-of-work labourer denied UAE visa

(Disclaimer: this is a work of fiction. Learn to take a joke; you’ll live longer.)

In a heartrending tale of inhumanity which has taken the nation by storm, a labourer recently fired from his last stable job has now also been rejected a visa to the UAE.

Mass hysteria and outrage has engulfed people in both Pakistan and the UAE, as social workers demand justice for the poor immigrant, who says he is simply out to seek a job.

Social media activist Jibran Nasir has already started a campaign for the unnamed labourer without checking details, or if he is simultaneously running a campaign against him.

Speaking to The Dependent, the lawyer of the labourer said that the world needs to open itself up to immigrants and realise that they are just like us.

“This man was first suspended from his job without pay and now he isn’t allowed to go to a foreign country because the Pakistan government has placed him on this thing called the ECL as if he was running from the consequences of his actions or something. Outrageous!” he said.

In an exclusive interview to The Dependent, the labourer, who wishes to remain anonymous, said that he is being treated unjustly.

“Look even I can make a mistake, so my suspension is ridiculous. And now, they are telling me I cannot even go out of the country, what do I even do now?” he told The Dependent.

“Face the consequences of my actions? Are you high or something?” he responded to this reporter’s suggestions.
