SC to review security arrangements for judges following ‘bad governance’ stance

KARACHI: Taking a stern stance on bad governance in Sindh, the Supreme Court of Pakistan will review the security arrangements for the Karachi registry, rest houses of judges and their residences on January 20, 2018, at 11 am, Pakistan Today has learnt.

The SC’s officer in-charge, Muhammad Amin Khan has forwarded a letter to the chief secretary, secretary finance, additional IGP CCPO and the secretary home to participate in the meeting on time.

According to the letter – a copy of which is available with Pakistan Today, a meeting will be held at the supreme court branch registry building under the chairmanship of Justice Gulzar Ahmed, Judge Supreme Court of Pakistan, to consider the security arrangements at the Supreme Court Branch Registry Karachi and the SCP Judges Rest House Bath Island.

The letter further states that the security arrangements for the families of the judges, their residences and that for former judges and widows’ will also be considered. While the progress regarding the installation of CCTV cameras at the residences of the judges will also be measured, the proposed land for the construction of the Supreme Court Branch Karachi will be inspected along with the consideration of any other work/issue with the permission of the chair.
