Mardan minor girl suffered sexual assault before murder: report

MARDAN: The four-year-old girl whose body was found on Sunday evening was allegedly assaulted before she was murdered, reports a local English daily.

This was mentioned by the District Nazim Himayatullah Mayar and the local doctors, who said that the girl after being kidnapped by an unidentified person while she was playing outside her house in the Gojar Ghari area of the district, was then taken to a nearby sugarcane field, where she was raped and murdered.

Mayar further said that the marks on her neck prove that she was strangulated which was possibly the cause of her death as well. He lauded the police performance in this case but accused them of hiding the fact that the girl was raped.

He further said that no government official has visited the girl’s family as of yet, and also that proper media coverage was not given to the incident.

The police have also been accused of pressurising the victim’s uncle Zahir Mohammad to refrain from talking to media, in order to suppress the story.

The family will reportedly hold protests if the real results of forensic tests are not made available to them.
