LAHORE: In the light of the decisions made by the all parties conference, arrangements have been finalised to hold a protest on Mall Road on January 17 and leaders of Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) and Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) visited Charing Cross (Faisal Chowk) to give a final touch to the arrangements in this regard.
Central Punjab PTI President Abdul Aleem Khan and PAT leader Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said this while talking to the media. They said that all options would be open and anything between a sit-in, rally, lock down or protest can happen; the final decision would be announced by the leaders on January 17.
They said that party heads of all major parties like PPP, PAT, PTI, PML(Q), Jamat-e-Islami and others would be attending the meeting on January 17 and unanimous decisions would be taken.
Answering the media’s questions Abdul Aleem Khan said that the present government has lost moral credibility to remain in power, it is a hard fact that 14 lives were lost in Model Town while a 100 innocent people were also injured but not a single person has been held responsible for the incident.
He stated that if culprits of the Model Town incident had been caught then the police would not have resorted to firing at citizens in Kasur the other day as it has somewhat been normalized now.
He further said that in the light of the decisions of the steering committee a strategy would be formed regarding the protest of all parties on January 17 and all of Mall Road would be a ‘ pandaal ‘ for protestors.
MPA and PTI Central Vice President Mohammad Shoaib Siddiquee also briefed the media regarding the arrangements of the protests and a number of decisions taken in this regard.
Meanwhile, PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira has said his party would fully participate in the protest rally and PPP Co-Chairman Asif Zardari would address the historic gathering. “We stand with PAT Chairman Tahir ul Qadri,” he said.
