QUETTA: A special investigation team has been set up to probe into Tuesday’s terror attack near the Balochistan Assembly building in Quetta, which claimed the lives of six persons and left 17 others wounded.
The suicide explosion took place near a police truck parked close to GPO Chowk on Zarghoon Road, located in the city’s high-security Red Zone, around 300 metres from the provincial assembly building.
According to details that later emerged, the suicide bomber’s intended target appeared to be the vehicle of the Balochistan Constabulary personnel.
Bomb disposal team officials are of the opinion that the bomber appeared to be between 15 and 20 years of age and detonated between 8 and 10 kilogrammes of explosive material. Samples of the attacker’s remains along with other evidence will be dispatched to Punjab Forensics Laboratory.
It is pertinent to mention here that this attack comes at a time when the provincial assembly had called a special session to take up a no-confidence vote against the then chief minister Sanaullah Zehri. The session, however, was postponed after the chief minister tendered his resignation.
