ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of a petition, regarding the dismissal of a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) reference against former finance minister Shaukat Tareen, till January 23.
A divisional bench of IHC comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhter Kiyani picked up the case filed by former prime minister seeking dismissal of reference against him regarding Rental Power Plants project corruption.
During the course of proceeding, the counsel for petitioner Suleman Akram contended that his client was being politically victimised. All the projects were initiated with the approval of the then cabinet, he added.
He argued that a private firm had been hired to conduct an audit of this project, which reported that the government got profit in this project.
The counsel said that the NAB had filed this reference without investigation. He prayed the court to issue directives to dismiss this reference as it was a politically motivated case.
The petitioner’s counsel could not complete his argument during Wednesday’s hearing. The court, however, adjourned the hearing of the case till January 23.
