Former Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) senator Zafar Ali Shah on Sunday refused to accept Nawaz Sharif as his leader.

Zafar Shah has surfaced as the second belligerent from the ruling party after former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan. “I even can’t think that Nawaz Sharif would be a corrupt and he met out such a crucial end due to his flattered companions, I am with judiciary and not with Nawaz now,” said Zafar Ali Shah.

He also mitigated the chances of timely general and Senate elections saying that Supreme Court (SC) may issue any verdict in this regard. He disclosed that he was still a worker of PML-N and party did not oust him but he reaffirmed his resolve not to compromise on principles and disagreed with Nawaz’s policy of confrontation with judiciary.

“This (confrontation with judiciary) is not acceptable at any cost, when the court issued verdict over Panama scandal I astonished that PM of the country could be corrupt as I was hopeful that corruption could not be proved against Sharif family,” he mentioned.

He said that he tried to convince party leadership to accept judicial decision after Panama verdict but Nawaz was not ready to hear anybody, adding he said that then he parted his ways from the party.

“They (PMLN party and leaders) may oust me from committee but I am PMLN worker even today, Chaudhry Nisar is a man of principles and he calls a spade a spade like me, PMLN party leaders don’t know what they are doing, it will harm them in next general elections unfathomably,” said Zafar Ali Shah.

Responding a query, former senator said that country was facing crises right now so he was unable to foresee Senate of general elections during 2018, martial law was also out of question but any other way could be adopted, he added.

Replying another question, Zafar Ali Shah stated that there was a difference between narrative of Nawaz and Shehbaz Sharif which showed leadership crises in the party but the way Nawaz has adopted would harm him and PMLN as well.
