Bilawal condemns Punjab police highhandedness against PPP Lahore president

LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has strongly condemned the highhandedness of Punjab Police against PPP Lahore President and ex-MPA Shahjahan Ahmed Bhatti whose house was intruded in Nankana Sahib.

In a statement issued here, the PPP chairman said that the Punjab government has turned the province into a police state and its illegal raids and intrusions into the homes of PPP leaders’ show its highest level of political frustration.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that raiding the house of Shahjahan Ahmed Bhatti without any warrants was tantamount to a threat to the PPP leaders and workers in Punjab and warned Sharif brothers to desist from such tactics as their days are numbered now.

He demanded immediate action against the officials involved in the illegal raid and threatened that the PPP workers will take to the streets in case his demand is not fulfilled.

Asif Zardari reaches Lahore:

PPP Co-Chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari reached Lahore on Friday, party sources said. 

He will attend a marriage ceremony of former Pakistan Cricket Board chairman’s daughter beside meeting different delegations.

He will stay in Lahore for few days.
