LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) core committee member, Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has termed the distribution of Rs 54 billion among the members of parliament as political corruption.

“The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is playing the role of a spectator. The Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan must take notice of this looting and plundering of the national exchequer in the name of development funds. This looting is detrimental on two levels; firstly the political culture will become more prone to corruption and secondly, political representatives will work for their own interest instead of protecting the public interest,” he said in a statement.

He called on the government to implement a democratic model in the country in its letter and spirit otherwise holding the electoral exercise without protecting the public interest is a futile exercise.

“Imran Khan will become prime minister of Pakistan in 2018 with the help of the people of Pakistan. It is a time of shame for the legacy of Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandella, Winston Churchill, Abraham Lincoln and Quaid-e-Azam if corrupt people are also claiming to be ideological”, he said further adding, “Imran Khan is the messiah of this nation because he gave the much needed political awareness and conscious to the common man of this country”.
