PPP is and was established for labourers: Nasir

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Labour, Human Resources, Transport, Mass Transit and Information Syed Nasir Hussain Shah on Wednesday said that union officials should discharge their professional obligations with hard work, devotion, dedication and honesty and take concrete steps for the benefits to the labourers as Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) ‘is and was’ established for the labourers.

He said this while addressing a gathering arranged by the All Pakistan Employees Union Workers Welfare Board at a local hall.

Syed Nasir said that “Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has already given clear directions for the welfare projects aimed at labourers and their families,” and added that, “Many new schools, hospitals and colonies are being built to ensure the provision of improved facilities to them.”

The labour minister said that he had already instructed his team to resolve the issues of labourers without any delay.

He thanked Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah for releasing grants for various development schemes and said though such funds were insufficient but will help in improving the condition of labourers to some extent.

The minister further said that Asif Ali Zardari has given free of cost land in Naudero and Larkana for building labour colonies and encouraged the government and philanthropists to do the same.

Earlier Labour Secretary Abdul Rasheed Solangi highlighted the various development projects and facilities aimed at labourers. Sindh Workers Welfare Board Secretary Asif Ali Memon also gave details of the steps taken by the government and the development schemes initiated under Labour minister’s vision.

Renowned labour leaders, The Pakistan Institute of Labour Education and Research (PILER) Executive Director, Karamat Ali, Habibuddin Junaidi, Liaquat Magsi, Mir Ismail Brohi, Roshan Kalhoro, Qamoos Gul Khatak, Employees Union President Muntakhib Alam, General Secretary Waris Shah, Patron Syed Musharraf Husssin Zaidi and others also spoke about governmental efforts and policies related to labourers.
